Looking for healthier options when you eat out? The MetroWest Moves Healthy Dining program is here to help! The goal of this initiative is to promote better nutrition among people who live, work, and play in Framingham, Hudson, and Marlborough. Dining establishments participate in this voluntary program by offering healthier meal and beverage options.
Participating restaurants must have up to three menu items that meet the U.S. Dietary Guidelines for calories, fat, and sodium. These healthier options are approved by the MetroWest Moves dietitian.
Restaurants also offer healthier food and beverage options, including choices of fruits and/or vegetables as side dishes, substitution of salad or other vegetables for french fries at no extra charge, and offering 1% or skim milk, 100% fruit juice, or tap water.
We will help restaurant owners to develop healthier versions of their recipes. We will also create a toolkit for business owners with nutritional standards, sample menus, and sample marketing materials to help owners promote their participation and raise consumer awareness of healthy menu items.
